Today we will look at the research of
James Fowler and his six stages of faith. Fowler's work draws upon the contributions of such thinkers as
Piaget, Erikson and
Kohlberg. In this work of developmental psychology, "faith" is a person's way of making sense of life with images, values and commitments. It is not to be equated with belief. We will also look at
John Westerhoff's religious application of stages of faith.
The second half of class will consist of the first round of project presentations.
